Town Manager David Cressman said tests of the water supply Saturday, Sunday and Monday found perchlorate levels at 3.21 parts per billion (ppb), 2.71 ppb and 2.65 ppb, respectively. Preliminary results from tests conducted yesterday show levels below 2 ppb, he said. "The good news is the direction of what we're finding with perchlorate in the water system is declining, but it's still higher than it was a week ago," he said. Officials voluntarily notified the public Friday that trace amounts of the chemical were discovered during routine tests on Aug. 3.
