Di-STASIO The Wayne Independent (PA) August 19, 2004 HONESDALE - The Wayne County Commissioners agreed Tuesday to issue letters to state and federal legislators to see if the process of removing potential unexploded ordnances from Tobyhanna State Park can be sped up. Chairman Anthony Herzog said Tuesday that he attended a meeting at Gouldsboro Volunteer Fire Company on August 14 with PA Department of Environmental Protection and the US Army Corps of Engineers. The meeting was designed to inform property owners in the Lake Watawga area (Lakeview Estates Development) about the ongoing investigation of unexploded munitions at the former Tobyhanna Artillery Range. Herzog said that the area is being cleaned up with contractors and that smaller unexploded pieces have been found near the State Park.
