In the beginning: WCES turns 25 By Roberta Miller Watertown TAB & Press (MA) September 24, 2004 Watertown Citizens for Environmental Safety is 25 years old. Which means that those of us who were founding members of the organization gathered in our living rooms 25 years ago to share our concerns about the quality of our environment. Back then, we explored questions about the dangers of nuclear power, how should we best handle the lead paint in our old houses, and most pointedly, what did it mean that we had a decommissioned nuclear reactor in our own backyard on the Arsenal site.
