School wasn't 'strafed,' says Air Guard leaderBy Brian Prince Asbury Park (N.J.) Press November 11, 2004 LITTLE EGG HARBOR, N.J. - Col. Brian Webster, commander of the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard, says an F-16 was 4.5 miles away from Little Egg Harbor Intermediate School when it accidentally fired training rounds that hit the school roof and grounds the night of Nov. 3. Speaking at a forum last night, Webster disputed news accounts referring to the accident as an airplane "strafing" the school. He said strafing implies intent. The forum joined National Guard representatives with local officials and area residents who are concerned about safety in the area around the Warren Grove Gunnery Range. The meeting, held at Little Egg Harbor’s municipal complex, shed some new light on the incident.
