Hall County authorizes accelerated CAAP land sales By Tracy Overstreet Grand Island Independent (NE) November 17, 2004 The Hall County board has OK'd an Army Corps of Engineers plan that would accelerate remaining land sales at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant. But not before raising concerns that the Army properly clean the property at some point in the future. "It should be lily-white clean or it shouldn't be sold to anybody," said Supervisor Dick Hartman. The Army last week said it intends to clean the property to a below-surface-level depth of one foot, instead of the four-foot practice currently in place -- an announcement that drew strong criticism and caution from the Environmental Protection Agency. ...
