Air quality could blow away any BRAC gains for Robins By S. Heather Duncan Macon Telegraph (GA) November 19, 2004 A Robins Air Force Base advocacy group presented a report to local government officials Thursday detailing how Middle Georgia's air pollution levels could created "serious long-term impacts" for the base. Ron Carbon, director of the 21st Century Partnership, warned the Middle Georgia Clean Air Coalition and the Middle Georgia Regional Development Authority Board that the base could lose any new missions announced during BRAC 2005 if Bibb County fails to attain - and maintain - air quality standards for ozone. BRAC is a federal process for identifying military installations for closing or workload changes. Houston County leaders breathed a sigh of relief this year when Houston escaped being placed in a "nonattainment zone" with Bibb County and part of Monroe County.
