Park Ridge acts to cut impurity in 2 water wells By WALTER DAWKINS North Jersey November 21, 2004 PARK RIDGE - Borough officials say they hope to reduce concentrations of a suspected contaminant found in two of the borough's water wells by next summer. An engineer is designing a treatment system that uses an ion exchange process to reduce the concentration of the substance, known as perchlorate. The engineer, James Palumbo of the Quad Three Group in Scranton, Pa., described the treatment system. "It is a resin that looks like little pearl-sized beads," he said. "We put it in the tanks and we pass the water through this section of beads, which suck up the perchlorate." ...
