Private interests eyeing Air Force beach land in Panhandle Associated Press Miami Herald (FL) December 10, 2004 FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. - Potential developers are eying a piece of Air Force-owned beachfront that is surrounded by hotels and tourist attractions, but military officials say they have no plans yet to sell or swap the property. Owners of the Shoal River Ranch are the latest to express interest in the 16-acre parcel on the Gulf of Mexico that belongs to Eglin Air Force Base. The land is on the eastern end of Santa Rosa Island near this Florida Panhandle city. David Stockman, director of real estate for the Davis family, which owns the 11,000-acre ranch, said family representatives have met with Eglin officials and discussed trading some of their land on Eglin's northern border for the beach property. ...
