PAVE PAWS report: No harm By AMANDA LEHMERT and KEVIN DENNEHY Cape Cod Times (MA) January 13, 2005 An independent report due to be released today by the National Academies of Sciences concludes there is no link between an Air Force radar station in Sagamore and elevated disease rates on the Upper Cape, according to an official briefed on the investigation. Citing the report, the official said even long-term exposure to the PAVE PAWS radar station does not pose human health risks. The $1 million report, which was requested by the Cape's legislative delegation in 2001 and paid for by the Air Force, was embargoed for an 11:30 a.m. public release in Sandwich today. Air Force officials would not comment yesterday on the contents of the report. While the report will likely be contested by critics of the radar facility, others call it a landmark moment in a decades-long debate over the health effects of the powerful radar station. ...
