Camp Evans' Army cleanup will continue By DAN KAPLAN Asbury Park Press (NJ) January 14, 2005 WALL -- The Army has agreed in principle to clean up more than 100,000 square feet of vacant buildings at Camp Evans before the township takes ownership, military officials said Thursday. A majority of the structures, known as H-buildings because of their configuration, are part of the former military radar research facility's historic district and are crucial to the development of a planned science learning center at the site. But over the past few years, the World War II-era buildings have rapidly deteriorated because they have been vacant and unheated, said Chuck Appleby, the Base Realignment and Closure environmental coordinator for Camp Evans. ...
