Hearing focus on exposure to bad base water CHRIS MAZZOLINI Jacksonville Daily News (NC) February 12, 2005 The federal Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry will host meetings next week to determine whether additional studies are needed concerning water contamination at Camp Lejeune between 1968 and 1985. According to ATSDR, a panel of scientists - including cancer specialists, epidemiologists, toxicologists and environmental health experts - will discuss the possibility of conducting studies on the children and adults who lived or worked on base during the time period. Studies have already been conducted by the ATSDR involving the children that were in the womb during this period. These studies have suggested that there may be a link between the children born with cancers or birth defects and the water contamination. ...
