Bad water panel wants a registry of those exposed CHRIS MAZZOLINI Jacksonville Daily News (NC) February 19, 2005 ATLANTA - Scientists assessing the possibility of further study into the effects of water contamination at Camp Lejeune recommended Friday that all parties involved would benefit from more communication and better cooperation. The seven-member expert panel, tasked with discussing the next steps in an ongoing analysis of the health problems caused by the contamination, made three key suggestions as it concluded its two-day deliberations in Atlanta. They want to form a registry of all those who may have been exposed to contaminated water from 1968 to 1985; forge an official partnership between the agencies involved and the affected people; and boost efforts to notify those who may be affected and know nothing about the contamination. According to federal guidelines, the panel is not permitted to offer recommendations on behalf of the entire panel. Instead, each member will provide his or her own recommendations that will be published in a forthcoming report. ...
