Developer buys land, plans for 88 houses at air base Site near planned urban center, park By Jenny Burns Myrtle Beach Sun News March 16, 2005 A small section of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base was sold Tuesday to an affiliate company of Coldwell Banker Chicora, which plans to build cottage-style homes. The Myrtle Beach Air Base Redevelopment Authority sold 16.2 acres to Springfield Development Group to develop 88 single-family homes. That leaves the authority with 18 acres of environmentally clean property left to sell. That property is under contract, said Buddy Styers, the authority's executive director. The authority also has 11 acres of land with some environmental contamination. Styers said that property is partially under contract for sale. ...
