Technician at Pantex contaminated by low-level radiation Associated Press Fort Worth Star-Telegram April 7, 2005 AMARILLO, Texas - A technician at the Pantex Plant was not trained properly and wore inadequate safety equipment, and protocol was not followed to limit radiation exposure, a nuclear safety agency's report on a March incident concluded. "Questions were raised regarding access control to radiation areas, work planning and unanalyzed exposure," a March 4 report from the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board said. "The work was performed in a radiological area without the appropriate personal protective equipment .... radiological operations evaluation, worker training and pre-job briefing." The technician works for Sandia National Laboratories but was at Pantex, the nation's only nuclear weapons dismantling and assembly site, doing radiological work, according to a statement from Dan Glenn, Pantex site office manager. ...
