Group approves joint land use study for military bases WVEC 13 (Hampton Roads, VA) Reported by: Mike Gooding April 21, 2005 It's taken ten months, but a working group of leaders from Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk and the Navy have come to terms on a final draft of a study aimed at curbing development around NAS Oceana and other military installations. The last obstacle was cleared in recent weeks. Virginia Beach City Council okayed a statement of understanding, outlining steps to reduce incompatible encroachment around jet noise and accident potential zones around Oceana and Fentress Field. All sides acknowledge much work remains to be done and there are still disagreements on some points. Still, leaders say that reaching agreement on the parameters of the joint land use study was a significant first step. ...
