FORESTDALE - The Army has found no link between Camp Edwards and
contamination found in a private well in Forestdale.

Thursday night, officials from the Army and Air Force updated Sandwich
selectmen on groundwater cleanup at the Massachusetts Military
Reservation over the past year.

Army officials said the recent detection of perchlorate in a private
well on Peters Pond Drive does not appear to be related to base pollution.

Hap Gonser, program manager for the groundwater study, said testing of
wells in the area continues, but has found no evidence the base is
responsible for the small levels of perchlorate detected. The Army also
plans to dig additional wells along the perimeter of the base to see
whether there is a link to Peters Pond Drive.
