EPA recommends big relocation in asbestos-contaminated subdivision Associated Press KGW (OR) April 28, 2005 A U.S. Environmental Protection Agency manager is recommending that about 25 families with homes in an asbestos-contaminated Klamath Falls subdivision be relocated to new homes. If the EPA acts on the recommendation, it would be the largest relocation it has undertaken in the Pacific Northwest. Assuming that EPA supervisors approve the plan, the relocation could begin before summer, said Dan Heister, who worked as the EPA's on-scene coordinator for the North Ridge Estates subdivision. The asbestos contamination resulted from demolition of buildings in the World War II-era marine barracks at the site. ...
