Don't let unbridled growth kill Fallon's Golden Goose Editorial Lahontan Valley News June 30, 2005 By now it should be obvious that Fallon is undergoing a land rush, as developer after developer comes forward with plans for another subdivision. In the past six months alone, we have reported on plans for six new subdivisions proposing to construct upward of 1,000 new homes in and around Fallon. In some respects this unbridled growth is a welcome change from the days not too long ago when the real estate market was in a slump, exacerbated by widespread coverage of Fallon's leukemia cluster and nervousness over elevated levels of arsenic in the groundwater. Fallon was overdue for some prosperity. Now with a real estate boom at hand and the local building trades at full employment it is time to at least consider the downside to all this growth. ...
