Army sets in motion plume cleanup By AMANDA LEHMERT Cape Cod Times (MA) August 26, 2005 CAMP EDWARDS - Army officials are seeking input from the public as they choose the final plan for cleaning up a plume of explosives and perchlorate at Camp Edwards. The long-term cleanup system would be the first operated by the Army at the base. An Air Force cleanup program has been maintaining long-term systems since the 1990s. The plume of explosives - including RDX, HMX, TNT and the explosive additive perchlorate - trails from a natural kettle hole called Demolition Area One. The site was used for destroying munitions and National Guard training in the 1970s and 1980s. The plume is located Northeast of the Otis rotary. ...
