Spotsylvania rejects New Post By GEORGE WHITEHURST October 12, 2005 Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star (VA) Spotsylvania County supervisors last night rejected a rezoning request for 1,500 homes that could have netted more than $53 million for transportation, rural land preservation and other programs. By a 5-2 margin, the board turned down Tricord Inc.'s rezoning request for 418 acres at Routes 2 and 17 to allow construction of New Post--a residential community that included a mix of shops and offices. Board Chairman Bob Hagan and Supervisor Hap Connors supported the project. Supervisor Vince Onorato, in whose district the project site falls, called the New Post site "ideal" for industrial development, and described as "inaccurate and self-serving" some of the documentation used by the developer Tricord Inc. to justify the community. Other supervisors did not comment on their vote. ?
