Piper development near Sabre Heliport gets planning OK By JIMMY SETTLE Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle (TN) October 27, 2005 Former Clarksville Mayor Johnny Piper's preliminary subdivision plat near Fort Campbell's Sabre Heliport was approved Wednesday by the Regional Planning Commission. Piper, a developer, pledged to voluntarily comply with all noise and lighting provisions of a Sabre Heliport Overlay for land surrounding the federal property, even though local government never approved establishing overlay restrictions along outlying property months ago. Fort Campbell officials had earlier requested a 30-day deferral on planners' consideration of his subdivision request but then decided against seeking the delay. No Fort Campbell officials spoke for or against the development on Wednesday, although a couple of residents expressed some concerns about it. ...
