SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER State leaders press Bush on Hanford cleanup cost By LISA STIFFLER SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER Tuesday, November 15, 2005 Washington's political big guns have united to pressure the Bush administration to fully fund the cleanup effort at Hanford. On Monday, Gov. Christine Gregoire, state Ecology Department head Jay Manning and Attorney General Rob McKenna held a Seattle news conference warning that the state was ready to "do whatever is necessary" to make sure that the federal government fulfills its obligation to clean up the contaminated site -- including taking legal action. Democratic Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell and Republican Rep. Doc Hastings issued news releases urging the president to support the work being done. ...
