Report's in: Ellsworth passes environmental cleanup 'exam' By 1st Lt. Glory Smith Black Hills Bandit (SD) November 18, 2005 Ellsworth passed on its second environmental cleanup "report card" from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency this year, an achievement few locations identified by the government as contaminated ever attain, according to Mr. Dell Petersen, 28th Civil Engineer Squadron remedial project manager for the cleanup. "Our success represents a strong partnership (and) teamwork by the local community, EPA, South Dakota and Ellsworth Air Force Base," said Mr. Petersen. "The result was desired by all, but no single entity could accomplish it without the others." The report, called the Five-Year Review, represents the third milestone in determining that Ellsworth?s remedies toward cleanup are protective of human health and the environment, and that the contamination is contained. ...
