Fireworks SiteBy Matt Dunning Hanover Mariner (MA) November 30, 2005 Representatives from Tetra Tech and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection were on hand at Town Hall Monday night, fielding questions from Hanover and Hanson residents about the Fireworks Site in Southern Hanover. Earlier this month, Tetra Tech, the consulting and engineering company hired to evaluate the Fireworks site, submitted their Phase II Comprehensive Site Assessment Report to the DEP after years of diagnostic tests and surveys. The report revealed significant risks to site users as well as wildlife, primarily due to unsafe concentrations of mercury, lead, and antimony found in the soil and sediments on the property. Particularly at risk are fish and wildlife populations in the northern part of the site known as the Eastern Channel Corridor. There has been a fish advisory in place since 1995 warning fisherman not to eat fish caught in the site's ponds and rivers. ...
