Feinstein demands military perform studies on perchlorate DISPUTE: The Pentagon says there is no need for more research on the rocket-fuel chemical. By DAVID DANELSKI Riverside Press-Enterprise (CA) January 11, 2006 A California senator demanded Tuesday that the military make good on a congressional directive to conduct a major health study on a rocket-fuel chemical found in water and food consumed by millions of Americans. Congress, in a 2003 defense authorization bill, required an independent study on how perchlorate contamination has affected large numbers of people. The study has not been done. Defense officials say the study is no longer needed because others have completed or are pursuing similar research. ...
