Trust helps preserve land, buffer Fort Stewart Conservation group purchasing easements on land around Army post to prevent further development Sean Harder Savannah Morning News (GA) January 12, 2006 A land conservation group has purchased an easement on a 108-acre parcel near Fort Stewart to restrict any potential future development. This is the first in a series of planned purchases to preserve land and protect the Army installation from encroachment. The Trust for Public Land, a national nonprofit land conservation organization, purchased the agricultural conservation easement for $86,250 on privately owned land that borders southeast Fort Stewart. The easement is in perpetuity and assigned to the Georgia Land Trust. ...
