ACT proposes readiness plan for Super Hornet squadronsSUE BOOK NEW BERN SUN JOURNAL February 9,2006 HAVELOCK — The two Navy FA/18 Super Hornet squadrons expected at Cherry Point in 2007 and 2008 are still flying in this direction, but the area needs a readiness plan. That is the assessment the Allies for Cherry Point’s Tomorrow board received from its executive committee during a meeting Wednesday. Retired Maj. Gen. Harry Blot advised members on the need for a long-range plan of readiness to protect and expand military facilities in the area. Part of that effort could include land purchases to prevent encroachment that has endangered the Navy’s Master Jet Base at Oceana in Virginia Beach, Va. ...
