'U.S. bases must be contamination free' Korea Herald February 13, 2006 The Ministry of Environment yesterday said that the government will stick to its position that the U.S. military is responsible for compensation for environmental damages on its bases that will be returned to the Korean government. "There is no change to the (South Korean) government's basic position that U.S. army bases should be cleaned up before being returned," said Environment Minister Lee Jae-yong. ...
