County calls for city to delay annexation By GREG HAMBRICK The Beaufort Gazette (SC) February 14, 2006 The Beaufort County Council on Monday called on the city of Beaufort to delay plans to annex more than 5,000 acres in the Grays Hill and Seabrook areas, asking for more time to vet concerns about the public services that would be required and who would pay for them. ... The developers also will adhere to any amendments to air traffic patterns at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, Tedder said, another concern from council members. Last week, officials at the air station also called for a delay, citing concerns that the new developments would hinder the base's competitiveness in future base closure rounds. ...
