Washington's poison gardenJonathan Marino Washington Examiner (DC) March 20, 2006 WASHINGTON - An excavation team in Northwest Washington was conducting a routine soil test in an upscale enclave earlier this month when a backhoe unearthed an artillery shell that sent workers scattering to call the bomb squad. "It was just inches away from our kitchen window," said Janet Boehlin, who has lived in that house for nearly a half century. The Boehlins live just south of the District-Montgomery County border in Spring Valley, a neighborhood of multimillion-dollar homes and pricey cars. ...
