Camp Adair to be evaluated for hazardous materials, againAlbany Democrat-Herald (OR) March 29, 2006 ADAIR - The federal government says it will do another evaluation of the former Camp Adair and Adair Air Force Station for hazardous materials. A similar review was done 20 years ago, and the conclusion in 1986 was that no hazardous material was left at the former military sites. It was not clear why the Corps was doing it all again. From Portland, the Army Corps of Engineers said today it is evaluating “formerly used Defense sites,” also known as FUDS, that had been used for military training within the former training camp and Air Force station west of Albany. The Corps will do this evaluation by conducting a Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) site investigation, to be conducted in the next few months by a Corps contractor, Shaw Environmental. ...
