Sandwich urges use of test wellsBy GEORGE BRENNAN Cape Cod Times (MA) April 21, 2006 FORESTDALE - Military officials will enlist the help of voters to test for pollution underneath six private roads bordering the Massachusetts Military Reservation. At town meeting May 1, voters will be asked to accept the roads as public ways, giving selectmen the authority to grant easements for test wells. It's part of the Army Impact Area Groundwater Study Program's efforts to determine whether contaminants from explosives previously used on the base have migrated into the nearby neighborhood's groundwater, spokeswoman Kris Curley said. Last summer, water samples at the base boundary tested positive for Royal Demolition Explosives, or RDX, up to 290 parts per billion. ...
