Land around Air Force, naval bases to be studiedBY ROBERT BEHRE Charleston Post and Courier (SC) Area planners will take a fresh look at the land surrounding the Charleston Air Force Base and the Naval Weapons Station to ensure that new development doesn't crimp their ability to do their jobs. The study will update a similar Air Force base study done in 1993 and will take a look at the Weapons Station for the first time, said Ron Mitchum, executive director with the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments.
