Testing debate persists City wants corps to test Salina homes for contamination By DUANE SCHRAG Salina Journal (KS) May 10, 2006 An informational chart that was supposed to allay fears about vapors that may be accumulating in Salina homes as a result of the Schilling groundwater contamination is only raising new questions about the work being done by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Key facts in the chart are wrong, including the maximum contamination found at Schilling, which has been found to be almost 20 times worse than the chart indicates. Nevertheless, corps officials say there is no need to test homes near Schilling for vapors. Such testing is requested by local officials. ...
