Neighbors continue push for Proving Grounds cleanupBy Jillian Fennimore Scituate Mariner (MA) July 20, 2006 Two members of a grassroots organization known as the Proving Grounds Group were given 15 minutes each to voice their concerns during this week's Oceanside Village hearing, and they used every single second available. Christine Loeb and Veronica Kent made a plea at Monday’s hearing to continue environmental testing of the 55-acre site on Hatherly and Tilden Roads, and ease concerns of contamination during development of the proposed condominium and townhouse units. Local residents in the neighboring Wampatuck school district raised concerns after learning about the past uses of the site for weapons testing and storage for the U.S. Army during WWII. Those concerns lead to a series of educational meetings to get the abutters up to speed on the property and what would be done to clean it up before developing the site. ...
