Proposed Subdivision Next To Buckley Runway Worries Officials

DENVER -- Buckley air force base officials said they are hoping the city of Aurora will not approve a proposed subdivision next to a runway.

Once miles from the city, Buckley Air Force Base is right next to the housing subdivisions. Military official said they are concerned the houses are getting too close for comfort. A new zoning change may bring more houses and subdivisions to the area, if approved.

Aurora's mayor said the zoning change is all part of a planning process and will go through the appropriate zoning change process. He indicated that they will not approve any plans to build homes near the base if it potentially jeopardizes the $1 billion in annual revenue the base generates for the community.
