BROAD CREEK - It happened a couple of summers ago.

Archie Page was fishing in Bogue Sound off the eastern part of Emerald Isle when he felt something in the muddy bottom.

"I thought it was a clam so I reached down and picked it up," Page said.

But what Page had found was not any type of shellfish.

It was a bomb, or more accurately, a piece of a bomb.
