Children Killed By Grenade ExplosionKERO TV-23 News (Bakersfield, CA) September 1, 2006 BAKERSFIELD -- The Bakersfield Police Bomb Squad said the device that exploded in central Bakersfield Tuesday, killing two children and injuring several others, was a 40mm high explosive anti-personnel device: a grenade used by the U.S. military since the 1960s. It remains unknown how Frank Sendejo -- the man who allegedly gave the kids the grenade -- got the round. The grenade ranges in age from the Vietnam Era and afterward. Frank Sedejo -- the guardian of one of the killed children, Andrew Le -- told 23ABC off-camera yesterday that he gave Le's older brother the military round, describing them as a bullet. Sgt. Scott Tunnicliffe of the Bakersfield Police Bomb Squad said, "When it's in its completed stage, it can resemble a bullet." ...
