Subject: | [CPEO-MEF] Utah Department of Agriculture & Food perchlorate fact sheet |
See http://www.ag.state.ut.us/pressrel/perchloratefacts2.html. Here are some key excerpts: "Based on current research, the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) does not consider trace amounts (low range of parts per billion) of perchlorate in milk or drinking water, to be a health risk to the general population, including expectant mothers, infants and the immune compromised. The UDAF concurs with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is advising consumers to NOT alter their diets to avoid foods containing extremely low levels of perchlorate." "The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food will begin testing groundwater for perchlorate in the spring of 2006. An estimated 450 irrigation and culinary drinking water sources will be tested. Results will be examined to determine the feasibility of a milk testing program." -- Lenny Siegel Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight c/o PSC, 278-A Hope St., Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650/961-8918 or 650/969-1545 Fax: 650/961-8918 http://www.cpeo.org _______________________________________________ Military mailing list Military@list.cpeo.org http://www.cpeo.org/mailman/listinfo/military | |
