UXO pre-application public meeting

An unexploded ordnance (UXO) pre-application meeting will be held on 
Thursday, May 10, 2007, from 11:30am to 1:30pm at the Division of 
Environmental Quality Conference Room at the Gualo Rai Center, Saipan.

The CNMI government, through the Department of Public Safety and with 
assistance from the Division of Environmental Quality, is seeking EPA 
approval for hazardous waste management units used for the purpose of 
storing and disposing through detonation various hazardous waste that 
meet the characteristic of reactive because they are explosive.

The hazardous waste at this site includes munitions and explosives of 
concern primarily resulting from World War II. The purpose of this 
meeting is to solicit questions from the community and inform the 
community of proposed hazardous waste management activities.
