Tallevast fears are confirmed Report backs residents' claims that bad well water raised cancer risk BY CHRISTOPHER O'DONNELL Sarasota Herald Tribune (FL) July 11, 2007TALLEVAST -- Tallevast residents who have claimed for years that their health has suffered from polluted ground water finally have a government report that backs them. A recent Florida Department of Health report acknowledges that until 2004, residents of the predominantly black community were exposed to pollutants in well water that increased the likelihood of kidney and liver cancer, leukemia and lymphoma. ...The pollution at Tallevast was left behind by the former American Beryllium Co., which built parts for nuclear warheads for the federal government for nearly 40 years. ...
