Must be something in the water By TANYA DROBNESS The Montclair Times (NJ) July 18, 2007The Township Water Bureau intends to install one of the state’s first large-scale perchlorate removal systems in Montclair’s Rand Well to rid it of the chemical – a byproduct of rocket fuel or ammunition. How it got there has been a mystery since it was detected in 2005, prompting the shutdown of the well. Gary Obszarny, township superintendent of water operations, said the ion exchange treatment has treated perchlorate problems in small household units throughout New Jersey, and noted it has treated water systems in Massachusetts. ...
