Base slashes cleanup site list By Amanda Lehmert Cape Cod Times August 4, 2007OTIS AIR BASE - Air Force officials can take a black Magic Marker to their to-do list. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency plans to delete 61 out of 80 areas from the list of potentially contaminated sites at the Massachusetts Military Reservation, according to a notice published in the Federal Register this week. The areas coming off the base's Superfund list — which represent 482 acres of land on the base — have either been cleaned to the satisfaction of environmental regulators or were found to not require cleanup work. Military and EPA officials called the "de-listing" a milestone for the base cleanup, which is now in its third decade. ...
