Growth could hurt Air Force base TaRhonda Thomas 9News (NBC-TV, Denver, CO) October 10, 2007AURORA - Sen. Ken Salazar met with military officials and city leaders to discuss whether or not Aurora's growth could create encroachment on Buckley Air Force Base. Salazar (D-Colorado) is concerned that if rapid growth in Aurora continues, houses will be built too close to the base, preventing the base from planning for future growth. "As development moves forward," said Salazar, "encroachment encompasses the base, to the point where it affects military activity and training." Aurora city leaders have been working with Buckley on ways to prevent encroachment. Houses already line the south border of the base. ...
