State probe of contamination around Wyle Labs finds homes, schools safe By ALICIA ROBINSON Riverside Press-Enterprise (CA) November 17, 2007 State officials are wrapping up their two-year investigation into contamination at and around the now-closed Wyle Laboratories in Norco, and they said so far results have shown nearby homes and schools are safe. A report due out in January will give the fullest picture so far of how much contamination from the lab remains in the ground and how much has spread from the 429-acre site. By next fall officials expect to have a plan in place to clean up the property, said Rafat Abbasi, senior project manager for the state Department of Toxic Substances Control. The state is overseeing the investigation and cleanup at Wyle, which tested defense and aerospace products at its Hillside Avenue facility from 1959 until the lab's closing in 2004. ...
