WWII-Era Munitions Found Near Salinas River 60 To 80 Mortar Rounds Uncovered By High Surf KSBW-TV 8 News (Salinas, CA) Police said 60 to 80 mortar rounds were uncovered Monday by high surf at the mouth of Salinas River near Moss Landing. According to North Monterey County Fire Department, the World War II-era rounds are in various stages of decomposition and are in a pile about 30 feet above the surf line. ...
