Inland off-road park still a dream

RECREATION: Money to fund the latest effort to create an area is gone 
from the budget.

Attempts to open a state park for off-road vehicles in the Inland area 
have ground to a halt, hamstrung by cost, encroaching homes and 
environmental concerns.

The land was owned by Lockheed Martin Corp. and was part of a rocket and 
testing site until 1975.

Lockheed hesitated to give up the land without the county promising to 
protect the company from any future perchlorate lawsuits.
