BNAS redevelopment board frets over clean-up expense Brunswick Times Record (ME) February 20, 2008 HARPSWELL - Without a quorum, the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority was unable to take action on any agenda items at their meeting Tuesday, and instead heard a presentation on environmental insurance, liable to become an important factor during the closure of Brunswick Naval Air Station and transfer of that property. Linda Belke-Picha of March & McLellan in Minneapolis told the board that environmental issues are "very, very common" when redevelopment of a property is undertaken, in part because environmental laws weren't in place until the 1970s. On former military properties, she said MECs — "munitions and explosives of concern" — and UXOs — "unexploded ordinances" — may also be present. ...
