Belvoir Master Plan Unveiled
Mill Road ready to go, but how many lanes?

The Base Realignment and Closure Report (BRAC) Board of Advisors 
discussed community benefits and impact on Fairfax County Public Schools 
at their latest meeting Thursday, Feb. 21 at the Fort Belvoir Officers 
Club. In the final analysis, neither question seemed to be answered to 
the full satisfaction of the two primary Board protagonists.

Supervisor Gerald Hyland (D-Mount Vernon) stopped Kenneth Kost, a member 
of the Belvoir New Vision Planners, one minute into his presentation on 
the principles guiding Fort Belvoir's Master Plan update. Hyland 
questioned why Kost had skipped over "Community Benefits" in his list of 
Master Planning Principles.

"I was waiting to ask a question on your evaluation of benefits to the 
community when you got there, but you went right on by it without a 
word," said Hyland. "I'm assuming that title refers not only to the Fort 
Belvoir community but also the communities around Fort Belvoir."
