A last look behind the fence at Badger By Todd Krysiak Portage Daily Register (WI) March 12, 2008 Joan Kenney points to the hundreds of crumbling buildings that sprawl across prairie at what remains of Badger Army Ammunition Plant and discusses a lengthy history of operations determined by conflict abroad. Kenney wasn't present at the facility when it last geared up for production, but her task of overseeing environmental cleanup at the facility has required her to study up on its history. Even as cleanup continues, buildings are being demolished as the Army prepares to turn the facility over to state groups and private organizations. Area residents will have a chance this month to get one last look behind the fence at what remains of the plant on bus tours offered as part of the Between Fences Expo. ...
